Newcastle United Unveil New Captain

With Newcastle United looking for inspiration and leadership on the pitch, Alan Pardew has made the new perfect choice as captain to help turn things around.

With Fabricio Coloccini and Jonas Gutierrez missing, Alan Pardew has turned to Steven Taylor to lead the troops out against Swansea.

Steven Taylor plays with his heart on his sleeve and is a player who could never be accused of not giving 100% every match.

Alan Pardew had this to say to the Chronicle;

“Steven (Taylor) will be captain, there’s no Jonas or Colo. Regardless of Shola Ameobi playing or not, it is time for Steven to step up.

He’s matured and has been great around the group, I want to reward him for that.

He’s a local lad and it will fill him and his family with pride, so I am looking forward to him having it”.

It might be slightly controversial but even though I love Coloccini as a player and a person, I would be tempted to make Taylor the permanent choice – a player who could lead Newcastle United for years to come.
