Loving Alan Pardew AND Sam Allardyce

Some thoughts from the home of the World Cup winners!

Big Sam comes home! I was out watching the Hammers last week in my local because my wife wouldn’t let me go because I was out playing golf on the Sunday – she is so selfish (but wears the trousers!!).

I Bumped into an old Spurs mate and he was with a Cockney Geordie – god how much do you guys hate Big Sam? He caned him, mainly because of all of the crap purchases he made and the bad run you guys went on, that made he think of how we were when he was appointed! OMG!!!

At home last year we were rubbish, proper rubbish, away really good, it was a struggle but we made it, when Pardew took over at the Academy people forget how crap we were for two seasons in the Championship and it was awful.

First season finishing 5th I think and losing to Palace in the play-off final to a Freeman goal, that’s how bad we were!

Second season Pardew did no better, finishing 6th on the last day and then for some reason we changed, the two play-off semis against Ipswich and we were really good and big Al came up with a slogan we still use ‘Moore than a Game’ – bless him! Bobby Zamora winner in Cardiff sent us on a 24 hrs bender! (Not too sure you guys would have caught the Zamora song – Spurs sang to Zamora – when the ball hits the back of the net its Zamora (You know the Dean Martin song) – The Chicken Run boys sang using the same tune – When you’re sitting in row Z and the ball hits you on the head its Zamora!! – So funny!!)

I remember sitting down at Pardew’s 1st managed game in the PL home to Blackburn – reading the programme and thinking we are going down with a record low points total, the first 18 mins of that game we didn’t get into teh Blackburn half and we were 1 down, the next 37 and a half games, plus the FA Cup run to the final, was by far the best I had seen for many many years, Pardew was brilliant all season and managed a very poor side to top half, Europe and beating Spurs in the last game – stopping the entering the Champ League, which still brings a tear to my eye!

So you guys hate Big Sam, Bigger Andy and Nolan, but we love Pardew and Ba, what a difference! It’s going to make it a very interesting game – although I am not expecting any change, I have a little feeling for Carroll to bag the winner! That’s why I have done a double on Man City and West Ham!

I  have mixed feeling about your guys, currently you look a really decent side, watched you on Saturday and Thursday,  in parts really impressed – I love your two forwards, Ba was a massive loss for the Hammers and the fans will give him a great reception on Sunday  and when he comes down to the Home of Football.

My  best memory of Newcastle is the obvious 8-1 – not because of the score,  or the fact that Alvin Martin scored against 3 diff keepers – but why the hell did Peter Beardsley go in goal? It’s just one of the funniest things I have ever seen, poor git is only 4ft 2in! Everyone was trying to lob him! My worst memories, playing against you when Shearer was your man, always scored against us!

Also need to mention my first trip to Newcastle some years ago – flew up, caught the metro into town for a couple of beers, I never wear colours home or away (I started going in the late seventies – wasn’t wise to wear colours anywhere!) walked out of the station, straight away I stood out like a honeymooner’s dick – I was the only one not wearing black and white! Even the shoppers who don’t go to the game wear black and white!!!

Grip yourself for a shock win for the hammers tomorrow and Big Sam giving you the V sign for victory! LOL!!

Enjoy the game and your season, see you all down at the Academy in May!
