Demba Ba Topping The Charts
The striker is joint top of the Premier League scoring charts alongside Robin Van Persie…but can he stay there?
The current placings are; Ba (NUFC), Van Persie (Man.U.) both on 7 goals, Michu (Swansea), Suarez (Liverpool both on 6, Defoe (Spurs), Dzeko (Man. City) Fletcher (Mackems) all on 5.
Considering Ba has had poor to average service so far and has already scored a number of spectacular goals, he must have a great chance of continuing to regularly score as Cabaye is showing signs of getting back to form – plus Alan Pardew has been playing Demba through the middle.
The current prices with BetVictor (independently rated as the best for Premier League betting in each of the last two seasons – get a £25 free matched bet when you start using them) on who will finish as the scorer of most Premier League goals are as follows (though these will be suspended once it gets close to kick-off of the weekend’s first match);
Van Persie 9/4, Suarez 8/1, Torres 10/1, Aguero 12/1, Tevez 12/1, Rooney 16/1, Ba 16/1, Defoe 20/1, Jelavic 25/1
In terms of value for money, Demba Ba must be worth a flutter, fitness permitting. Rooney is a great player but has only scored 2 so far yet is the same price as Ba. Then of course you have the added factor of clubs like Manchesters United and City who won’t play these players every match, with Champions League at times taking precendence over run of the mill Premier League fixtures.
Check out the full list of runners here and you might even consider Cisse at 40/1 now he’s hit the net at last, or what about Shola at 250/1, or getting really silly, our old friend Michael Owen on a not so tempting 300/1!
