Shola Ready To ‘Rock and Roll’

Has there ever been such a specialist in the twin pursuits of taking penalties and mackem slaying?

Shola has of course never missed a penalty in a competitive match and of course loves scoring against the mackems,

He is always going to be a popular choice for the media ahead of derby matches and speaking to the Shields Gazette;

“Hopefully I can keep the (goalscoring) run going. It is something important to me but a victory would mean so much to our supporters and also to our season.

We’re all excited and hopefully we come back with three points. I worked so hard in pre-season to get myself right and then I got injured just before the first game. I worked very hard to come back and now I feel that my game is right where I want it.

I feel that whenever I’m called upon I can do a great job for the team. It’s up to the manager who he picks but he knows I’m ready to rock and roll!

I’m fit and looking to play more games. I’m as hungry as ever”.

It is quite amusing to think that we have a player who has so often flattered to deceive over the years at Newcastle for our fans, is somebody who the mackems must absolutely dread coming onto the pitch. Here’s hoping!
