Newcastle United To Sue Fans

Newcastle United had already seen one streaker (a 21 year old from Newcastle) on the pitch against Atromitos and land the club a £5,600 fine.

Now it has emerged that the (semi-) streaker who interrupted the Bordeaux match wearing only an England (a clue there) shirt, wasn’t even a Newcastle fan .

The identity of the Bordeaux idiot is John Parkinson, a 35 year old Rotherham fan from South Yorkshire’s…Rotherham.

This second streak is almost certain to land Newcastle an additional fine, with UEFA unlikely to see the funny side when it is the second incident in such a short space of time.

Both have pleaded guilty to public order offences at Newcastle magistrates’ but neither would accept football banning order so they will be sentenced in December.

Newcastle United’s head of security, Steve Storey, said, “We at the club hope they receive strong sentences, not just to punish them but also to act as a deterrent.

We will be actively seeking compensation through the court for the financial penalty imposed by UEFA and we are taking legal advice to consider taking civil action against both men.

The Club are really disappointed that these two, who are not season ticket holders or Members of the Club, decided to carry out these acts”.

I have a lot of sympathy for the club on this occasion because if somebody really wants to be on the pitch then the chances of stopping them are almost non-existent.
