How Much Will St.James’ Park Capacity Drop By?

When the attendance at today’s match against Man.U. is read out, I will be taking a little bit of extra interest.

Obviously what happens on the pitch comes before everything else but I’m just wondering what affect the extra Corporate boxes will have on the St.James’ Park capacity?

The club recently announced they were adding 6 extra boxes at the Leazes End (John Hall Stand) with one holding 20 people and the other five having 10 in each.

Hopefully the club have found a few broom cupboards to empty and give a coat of paint to, with an extra 70 on the capacity, but more likely is that this will have a negative outcome on how many fans can get into St.James’ Park.

The official capacity beforehand was 52,420, so keep an ear out today for when today’s crowd is announced, bearing in mind the match is sold out (for guidance, the crowd at the same fixture last season was 52,299).
