Has Anybody Seen My Telly?
Newcastle United put on a bit of a show to ‘celebrate’ the renaming of St.James’ park back to St.James’ Park.
A number of fans were invited along and then given bottles of fizzy stuff to spray when given the say so.
John Moorwood from Wonga said; “It’s a moment that I will remember, the sun out and fans spraying us with Champagne”.
Obviously I’m relieved that after a farcical 11 months the signs are back up but…
For the club hierarchy to be part of ‘celebrating’ putting St.James’ Park signs back up is a bit much.
If somebody had nicked your TV last year and then knocked on your door to give you it back, would you be patting him on the back and inviting him in for Champers?
Or what about getting up on Christmas morning and unwrapping one of your old pairs of socks and the wife saying, “It’s the ones you’ve always said you liked…”.
We’d had St.James’ Park for 120 years, Ashley/Llambias took it away and now they’ve given it back. Ungrateful, that’s me.
