Alan Pardew – ‘Best Players Back To Form’

Understandably Alan Pardew was in good spirits after seeing his team post their biggest and most convincing win so far this season.

The three goal victory over Bordeaux saw the likes of Cabaye and Tiote getting hold of the ball, and the match, in a way that we haven’t seen this season.

The omens are hopefully good for Sunday as those two players were outstanding in the 3-0 demolition job last season when the Mancs came to toon.

Speaking last night, Alan Pardew had this to say when speaking to nufc tv:

“We set standards we haven’t reached this season, until tonight. Suddenly we looked like the team of last year, with some of our best players back to form.

We put in a performance that was right out of the top drawer against a team who are unbeaten in seventeen matches.

The performance level was exactly what we needed – verve, energy, passion, fast play…and then we controlled the game when we took the lead.

That was the perfect performance”.

Confidence is a wonderful thing and with Cisse getting another goal it can only be a massive positive when he lines up alongside the freescoring Demba Ba on Sunday.

The midfield axis of Tiote and Cabaye working in tandem is something that was the foundation of our success last season and they are more than capable of winning the midfield battle against anybody Alex Ferguson can put out.

With doubts over what part Steven Taylor and Fabricio Coloccini can play on Sunday it makes it even more important that whoever plays at centre-back has the Tiote/Cabaye engine room in front of them.
