Newcastle United, England and Cheryl Cole

Read the following quotes and guess the player, I gave up after getting into double figures!

“I’m a really ambitious person so I’d love to represent my country, it is one of the reasons why I did move on. It’s one of the things I want to tick off on my list and I feel if I’m playing well and regularly I can.

In my time at Newcastle I was used more in a sitting role, like a quarter back almost – spraying the ball about, but the manager has seen something in me and wants me to get forward into the opposition’s final third to create a goal or create a chance”.

So which ex-Newcastle player thinks he should be playing for England and that when he was at Newcastle, he sprayed the ball around like a quarter back?

No these aren’t dated quotes from Peter Beardsley, Chris Waddle, Robert Lee or Gazza.

The answer is…Danny Guthrie!

Yes, I also want to ‘tick off my list’ playing for England, similarly I also have the occasional daydream involving Cheryl Cole, Bill Gates’ bank balance and curing world poverty!

I was never Guthrie’s biggest fan and think he’s a very average player who obviously sees somebody totally different when he looks in the mirror.

He also obviously doesn’t understand that he answers his own question if he is the one having to push his own name for England, rather than somebody who might be slightly less biased.

It is not only Newcastle’s fans who can be accused of being delusional!
