Three points on Sunday against Norwich and following the news that Coloccini and Tiote should play at least some part against Manchester United, the positive news keeps on coming.

Speaking today to the Chronicle, Alan Pardew is confident that both Danny Simpson and Tim Krul will return to training this week.

As for Tim Krul you’d assume it will be a more gradual process and it will be when he feels it is right. The Chronicle are speculating that it could be another couple of weeks which would take us beyond Manchester United at home on 7th October.

Needless to say, a fit Tim Krul is an essential for Newcastle’s hopes this season, Harper did well against Norwich when called upon but at Everton I would have bet on Krul having a decent chance of saving the two scouse goals.
