Fears Calmed Over Newcastle Away Tickets For Bordeaux
Following the tickets fiasco regarding Newcastle’s away trip to Club Brugge, we have had a number of supporters getting in touch because they have already booked travel and digs for Newcastle’s match in Bordeaux.
While ticket details for the match in France on 6th December are still to be announced, the fact that there was only 13,609 in attendance last night to see Bordeaux demolish Club Brugge 4-0 would suggest there should be no reason why Newcastle shouldn’t get a decent allocation.
The stadium holds over thirty four thousand and while Newcastle are likely to be a bigger draw than the Belgian side, especially with the extra interest our large French contingent of players will arouse, travelling fans should be ok for tickets.
Club Brugge gave Birmingham around five and a half thousand tickets last year and the ridiculous 1,470 that have been allocated to Newcastle would appear to be based on their belief that they can sell the match out to their own fans.
Claims that the smaller allocation is to stop a repeat of alleged problems when Birmingham visited last season would appear ludicrous as they’ve allowed three weeks to pass before announcing the minute allocation, meaning thousands of Newcastle fans have already committed to travelling, whether they have a ticket or not.
Regardless of the Belgian disgrace, it would appear to be common sense that Bordeaux and Newcastle United can agree the visiting fans allocation as soon as possible and give supporters reassurance that we’ll have no repeat of this disgraceful Club Brugge episode.
