Exclusive – Newcastle Fall Behind sunderland In Europe!
A total of €100m (all totals in Euros not sterling) was allocated to clubs, €40m for supplying players in the qualifying rounds and €60m in the final tournament. The amounts allocated included fixed amounts per player per day in the tournament and ‘training compensation weighted with the FIFA categorisation of clubs’ (guessing this means the bigger the league/club the more you got!) amongst other criteria.
Bayern Munich €3,095,393
Real Madrid €2,996,585
Manchester City €2,069,465
The shock for Newcastle United is that for once sunderland have outdone us in Europe, the shame!
Sunderland picked up €985,213, while Newcastle took away €615,928 thanks to the likes of Krul, Cabaye and Ben Arfa.
I wonder what Barnsley will spend their €3,494 on! (View full list of payments to clubs here)
It is only in the last few years that clubs have received these payments thanks to pressure from the ECA (European Clubs Association), of which Newcastle is a member (but not sunderland).
So maybe the mackems should be sending a cut of their share to Mike Ashley as a thank you!
For the Euros in 2016, the total allocated to clubs is going up by 50% to €150m, makes you wonder where it all went to before…
