Everton Statistics Equal Moral Victory For Newcastle
The statistics from the Everton v Newcastle make interesting reading, especially for the Bitter Blues who are still moaning no doubt.
Undoubtedly Everton should have been out of sight in the first half but United clung on and ended up the better team in the second-half, such is football.
What came out of of the Everton match according to BBC Statistics though is the following;
Possession NUFC 50% Everton 50%
Total Shots NUFC 11 Everton 17
Shots On Target NUFC 7 Everton 10
Corners NUFC 3 Everton 3

Amazingly, Newcastle’s second half recovery meant they finished up equal in terms of possession overall and almost as many shots on targets, the same number of corners as well.
When you add in a backdrop of an Everton team who had won their last six at home (incl 1-0 v Manchester United) against a Newcastle team missing arguably their three best players in Coloccini, Krul and Tiote, plus a fourth automatic first team regular in Simpson, then I think it is fair to say it was clear moral victory for the away team.
