Demba Ba Letting Newcastle Down?

Share

You’ve probably read recently that Newcastle United striker Demba Ba has been banned from driving for 6 months after being caught speeding on two separate occasions.

Ba was fined £1,000 and £85 for costs, as well as a £15 victim surcharge for not supplying information on who was driving his vehicle despite a number of requests from Northumbria police.

The Newcastle forward didn’t attend South East Northumberland Magistrates Court, where it was also revealed he’d failed to turn up for two earlier hearings, plus ignored letters sent to him from the police in November last year.

Maybe not the biggest story in the world….rich young man, high powered car, caught speeding, shows arrogance towards the authorities, gets a driving ban.

The difference is though that he is OUR rich young man getting banned and putting two fingers up to the authorities.

If this was Nile Ranger everybody would be slaughtering him, but when it is a player we think is a bit decent and likeable then….

I’m not saying we should all be booing him at the next home match but we can’t get all high and mighty when idiots like Lee Cattermole go trampolining on cars in Newcastle city centre, then not even acknowledge when one of ours strays.

Players have to remember they are representing Newcastle United 24/7 and their behaviour reflects on all of us, it is because they are representing Newcastle United that they are rich young men with high powered cars.
