Campaign Launched To Force Brugge to Give NUFC More Tickets
A petition has been launched to put pressure on Club Brugge to release more than the pathetic 1,470 tickets already announced for the Brugge v Newcastle fixture.
Maybe you think it is a hopeless case but if enough pressure is put on the host club, UEFA and indeed Newcastle United, then just maybe common sense will win the day. What is for sure is that the thousands and thousands of Newcastle United fans have booked non-refundable travel and accommodation deals and will be travelling to Bruges, with or without a ticket.
If more tickets are released then everybody will be a winner – Brugge are guaranteed the ticket sales, more Newcastle fans get a ticket for a match that most of them will have already committed to going to and the Belgian Police/authorities have a more manageable situation in terms of public order.
Thanks to Liam Jones for supplying the following and letting us know about the petition;
The Europa League Match/Ticketing Regulations state –
Any clubs participating in the Europa League Group Stages are obliged to provide 5% (1,470 in the case of Club Brugge) of the ground capacity for away supporters, However, depending on demand between the two said clubs, up to 20% (5880 in our case and roughly what Birmingham got last season) of the ground capacity can be made available without having to have formal approval from UEFA themselves.
If the authorities (UEFA) can be convinced of how many people care about this and will travel anyway, we have a chance.
Add your name now and demand fair treatment from UEFA by signing the petition.
