CS Maritimo v Newcastle United 6pm Live On ESPN

Newcastle travelled with the following squad, Ben Arfa suspended and Coloccini, Simpson, Tiote and Krul all out injured.

Squad – Harper, Elliot, Perch, Santon, Williamson, Steven Taylor, Tavernier, Ferguson, Anita, Bigirimana, Gosling, Marveaux, Obertan, Abeid, Amalfitano, Vuckic, Campbell, Sammy, Shola

Juggling his options, Alan Pardew has announced the following starting eleven, with Vurnon Anita having flown home due to his partner imminently going to give birth. Looks as though Marveaux has been frozen out after a poor showing at Goodison.

Elliot getting the shout as Harper rested but as we predicted, the manager going for his strongest possible back four that were available.

Elliot, Perch, Steven Taylor, Williamson, Santon, Obertan, Gosling, Vuckic, Bigirimana, Amalfitano, Shola

Obertan has got to start pushing for a first team place and big opportunity for likes of Amalfitano and Gosling to show their worth to Alan Pardew.

As expected, Shola has a solo role up front so the like of Obertan, Amalfitano and others need to get up and support him as well as doing their bit defensively.

A point would definitely do me to get us up and running and I think the team Pardew has put out on the pitch should be capable of delivering.
