Keegan’s ‘Key Men’ Fit For Newcastle’s Opener?

Speaking ahead of today’s clash with Tottenham, Kevin Keegan is on the money as usual.

Talking to the Chronicle he identifies our pair in the engine room, Cheick Tiote and Yohan Cabaye, as Newcastle’s most important players, even over Ba and Cisse.

“People talk about Cisse and Ba, but the key men are Cabaye and Tiote. You don’t want to see any of those two go. They are key men.

The Andy Carroll deal was one they couldn’t miss. To get £35m for Carroll was an incredible amount of money. It’s been proved everywhere if people offer money for players like Fabregas or Van Persie or Nasri, they will be sold.

I don’t think fans worry if they see the odd one go, providing they are assured that money is being invested in some way into the next generation or the next up-and-coming talent”.

I’ve never been in any doubt that the heart of your midfield dictates your chances in the majority of matches. Dominate there and you’ll very rarely lose.

Not only were Tiote and Cabaye bargain signings because of their price tag but much more importantly, real quality central midfielders are a rare breed and we have two of them!

The following six matches have already been confirmed as televised live, with no doubt many more to follow.
