Pardew Dilemma After Coloccini Recalled For Argentina
Great news for Fabricio Coloccini as he has been named in the Argentina squad for the friendly against Germany on 15th AugustĀ at Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt.
The bad news is that this kicks off less than 72 hours before our Premier League opener against Tottenham.
Will be interesting to see how Alan Pardew approaches this one as there is no denying a player of his quality should be involved at international level and if for whatever reason Colo withdraws, then who knows if that would be his chance gone.
Ironically, Germany were the opposition in Coloccini’s most important international match to date when he started in the 2006 World Cup quarter-final which resulted in Argentina losing out on penalties.
Coloccini has picked up 34 caps so far and also won Gold in the 2004 Olympics. (Good quiz question – which Newcastle player…).
We didn’t need any confirmation as to how valuable he is to Newcastle United but the fact that his fellow professional voted Fabricio Coloccini into their best eleven last season says it all.
