Newcastle Youngster Struggling For Start Of Season

With the new season less than two weeks away, it looks as though Sammy Ameoi will be unavailable for the opening game against Spurs.

The young striker/winger is suffering from hamstring trouble and missed the 0-0 draw against Den Haag at the weekend.

speaking to The Chronicle Alan Pardew said;

“I can’t see him being right for the first game of the season in terms of being available.

He needs to push at this time. He’s missed a very important week”.

I couldn’t see Sammy pushing for first team yet but I think he’s definitely shown more about him this pre-season and carried a bit more of a goal threat.

That is indeed the challenge for all the players looking to be involved in the front six, if the likes of Sammy, Obertan, Gosling, Amalfitano and others are to have any hope of featuring long-term they need to add goals.

If you take away Cisse, Ba, Cabaye and Ben Arfa then you would struggle to see where the next goal would be coming from and so a player creating and scoring goals could push through.

The following six matches have already been confirmed as televised live, with no doubt many more to follow.

Spurs (H) – Saturday 18th August but moved to 5.30pm (ESPN)

Chelsea (A) – Saturday, 25th August but also moved to a 5.30pm kick-off (ESPN)
