The draw has been made and Newcastle are off to Greece to play Atrromitos FC, a new destination for both fans and the team as they look to emulate the Fairs Cup boys of ’69.

The Fourth Qualifying Round draw took place in Nyon, Switzerland at 12.30pm UK time and Newcastle could have played any of the following five clubs;

FC Vaslui (Romania),Tromso IL (Norway), Neftçi PFK (Azerbaijan) Atromitos FC (Greece), Anzhi Makhachkala (Russia)

First Leg on 22nd or 23rd August and the Second leg on 29th or 30th August.

Alan Pardew and everybody else at Newcastle United will of course be hoping that the Greek club will be happy to accommodate the first leg being played on Wednesday 22nd August to avoid the nightmare of kicking off less than 48 hours before the away match at Chelsea on the Saturday.

There will no doubt be big relief at avoiding a trip to one or two of the others we could have drawn.

We await confirmation on whether we’ll be home or away first, even though the Greek club were named first which suggests we’d be travelling in the first leg.
