Lille Coach Tells Debuchy To Move On
“A coach always prefers to have the best players and Mathieu [Debuchy] is one of the best full-backs in France, if not Europe.
He is disappointed. He was hoping to leave and it is a normal reaction. Now he has to work hard for Lille and the new season.
Mathieu is a responsible boy, this is one of the oddities of the transfer season”.
One thing I can’t disagree with is that this transfer saga is indeed ‘…one of the oddities of the transfer season’.
Amongst the ‘oddities’ is why Newcastle weren’t prepared to meet the alleged eight million euros price tag and why nobody else has done the same, especially when his performances in the Summer would have only enhanced his appeal.
One reasonable guess could be that Debuchy may have made clear he only wanted to join Newcastle, which would seemingly be backed up by his mate Yohan Cabaye’s public statements.
Another very reasonable guess is that this isn’t the last we’ve heard of Mathieu Debuchy ad Newcastle United this Summer.
