Forty Points To Go For Newcastle United
Tiote provides the drive in the team despite his potential to overstep the mark. Lots of fans see him as the one big name they would allow to leave but I disagree, first name on the teamsheet for me. Even when we are poor you can expect him to give 100% rather than hide away. For me he is our Roy Keane/Patrick Viera and something we have lacked over the years. After that then Cisse and Ba are the main ones as you need goalscorers to do anything in this league.
The fear for me is that other teams will know more about our players this time round and Pardew will need to show just how good a manager he is to overcome that. I hope he keeps learning from his mistakes.
Being the most pessimistic of fans I’ll be counting down to safety, 40 points to go then!!
Success for me would be a similar season to last or even top 10 as we are up there to be shot at now. Relegation is obviously worst case scenario.
Absolutely not!! In years to come would you rather say you saw NUFC winning a Wembley final or reminisce about when we finished fourth? I’d take league cup winners and fourth bottom now if you offered me!!
I tend to ignore it to be honest. Until you actually see the player signing his name on the dotted line it’s all mostly bollocks. The whole media thing drives me nuts. If Newcastle do sign any one of the hundred players we’ve been linked with no doubt one of the rags will have the headline ‘we told you first’ with a photo of their headline from June.
They never actually acknowledge the 99 they got wrong. If you chuck enough balls at a coconut you’re bound to hit one eventually and all that. I’d prefer our transfer business to be sorted by now but the transfer window doesn’t really allow that. I think last year’s early influx was a rare event in the modern era.
If we had to start the season with our current team then it almost picks itself.
Krul, Simpson, Colocini, STaylor, Santon, Ben Arfa, Tiote, Cabaye, Jonas, Ba, Cisse
I’d like to see Marveaux pushing Ben Arfa and Jonas for a starting place and I’m still prepared to give Obertan an opportunity to prove he isn’t the dud he has shown to be so far.
Well history tells you that anything is possible in football. On the flipside I’d like to see Carroll come back in similar circumstances to which he left, ie. last minute and see him used as a target man against some of the bigger teams for either Ba or Cisse to feed off. Having three strikers like that to rotate into 2 positions, depending on the opposition, would be a useful strategy to have up your sleeve. While you have Shola obviously for emergencies when those 3 cannot deliver. I’m happy that Pardew tries different strategies to win a specific game despite the odd cock-up last season.
