Alan Pardew Changes Tactics – Why?

An interesting feature of this summer is Alan Pardew’s readiness to talk about players at other clubs, primarily Andy Carroll.

My memory might be playing tricks but I’m pretty sure that previously our manager would be saying something along the lines of ‘no comment’ but all that has changed.

Whether it is off his own back, or at the suggestion of Mr.Ashley…Alan Pardew feels quite comfortable talking about players who aren’t at St.James’ Park, yet.

Asked about Andy Carroll again in recent days the manager had this to say;

“That is above me that deal, it is a financial deal that will be done at board level if Liverpool agree.

If I was saying on a playing level would I like him in the squad, of course I would he would add a nice dimension to us”.

Pardew has also talked about the likes of Debuchy, Douglas and others, either naming them or it beinbg obvious who he referring to.

This naturally makes the interest very public to everybody, including the player(s), whether it is a tactic that has worked in our favour remains to be seen.
