There looks a possibility that Vurnon Anita could finally be on his way to St.James’ Park.

The latest round of events have seen Ajax make an enhanced contract offer to the player, which according to the Dutch press (De Telegraaf), Anita has now turned down.

It wouldn’t take a genius to guess that it is more than possible that the contract offer was made because the player had indicated he wanted to leave, with the latest reports suggesting that money isn’t his driving force.

These latest reports followed Anita taking on a new agent, Mino Raiola, who has a reputation for making transfers happen.

You may have also read elsewhere that it was claimed Derek Llambias and Secretary Lee Charnley were both in Holland trying to tie up the deal.

The Dutch press are suggesting a transfer fee of around £6.5m for the Dutch international could seal the deal, which would appear very good business when you look at rumoured price tags of around £10m and £12m for Jarvis and Fletcher who helped take Wolves down

Like most of you I’d just like to see 2 or 3 of these transfer sagas (or players of at least similar quality) eventually brought to a successful conclusion, at the moment it feels like I know more about some of these players than the ones already on our books!
