Toss Of The Coin Whether Carroll is Coming Back

The bookies are more often right than wrong and the money clearly has been put down on Andy Carroll heading back home.

The current prices have Carroll as only an even money shout to be wearing black and white again after the summer transfer window, with the next most fancied teams being West Ham (4-1), AC Milan (9-1) and Fulham (11-1).

A new manager at a football club makes very difficult decisions a little easier and while with Dalglish still in charge it would have been almost impossible for the scousers to contemplate cutting their losses, appointing a new man means backing his judgement.

Andy Carroll hasn’t become a bad player but he went to a club who after paying an inflated £35m, then bizarrely didn’t play to his strengths.

Brendan Rogers seemingly has no interest in doing that either and friendly journalists have put it about that Carroll needs to find a new club.

In terms of ability and adding to the mix currently at St.James’ Park, I don’t think there is any question that he would make our team/squad stronger but the question of his wages, and of course whether both sides really want this deal (either permanent or on loan), remains to be seen.

The other clubs following in the betting suggest strongly that the ponytailed one’s options might not be otherwise that tempting, if you leave out what would seem an unlikely jaunt into Serie A.

Toss that coin.
