Hatem Ben Arfa has escaped punishment for his part in the latest French fiasco at the recent European Championships.

Today Ben Arfa appeared at a disciplinary hearing to answer charges relating to the Euros.

Samir Nasri has been handed a three match ban, Jeremy Menez a one match suspension and both Yann M’Vila and Hatem Ben Arfa were simply given a caution to their future behaviour.

After working so hard to perform for Newcastle United and as a result get the call-up to the French national squad, Ben Arfa will be relieved that he can just concentrate on his football.

All Newcastle fans will hope he can now be 100% focussed on training and playing to recreate the second half of last season’s explosive displays.

As for France, Ben Arfa may have an even bigger trial in terms of convincing his old adversary, Didier Deschamps, that he deserves to be given his chance in a new look French set-up.
