Newcastle United Unveil New Training Kit Sponsor
Newcastle United released some photos today featuring the players getting their pre-season training kicked off.
New signing Romain Amalfitado featured but not as much as Demba Ba did in the photos, the club obviously making the point that he is still around.
Good to see Steven Taylor all smiles as well as he continues his comeback from serious injury.
What did catch our eye especially though, is a new logo has been added to all the training kit the players and coaching staff are wearing.
As well as the club crest and Virgin & Puma, any guesses as to the major player in the Sports Retail market who might have been added?
Check out the photos on the official club website here and see for yourself.
I take it you will have worked out that NUFC training kit now carries Mike Ashley’s branding of Sports Direct.
So long as Mike Ashley continues to own Newcastle United it is hard to see anything but the stamp of his retail empire continuing to grow, on a match day at St.James’ Park the Sports Direct imagery around the stadium is overwhelming.
When the Virgin Money deal comes to a close in two years time it would be a brave or foolish man who would write off the possibility of SD appearing on the home and away strips.
(You may be aware that DHL are paying over £40m to sponsor Manchester United’s training kit for a four year period – 2011 to 2015)
