Newcastle Interested In – Oh No We’re Not!

9 years ago

It was obviously very good news that Newcastle United finished fifth last season but it also brings a lot of nonsense with it.

This Summer, Newcastle’s name has been added to transfer speculation stories that clearly would not have been the case if we’d finish bottom half of the table.

The latest rubbish is ‘news’ brought to us by website ‘caught offside’;

‘Newcastle are ready to challenge Tottenham for the signature of Real Madrid stopper Ricardo Carvalho.

The Portuguese veteran was left out of Real Madrid’s squad for their pre-season tour of the US and now looks set to leave the Spanish capital this summer.

It is understood that Spurs new boss Andre Villas-Boas is interested in the experienced 34-year-old after losing Ledley King to retirement and Ryan Nelsen to QPR.

Real wanted to use Carvalho as part of a deal for Luka Modric but Spurs want straight £40 million deal for the Croatian schemer.

Newcastle are also interested and are ready to make a concrete offer this week. Boss Alan Pardew wants to add more depth to his Toon squad and believes Carvalho’s experience will be vital as Newcastle eye another assault on the top four this season’.

Alan Pardew has made clear he is looking to add a commanding centre-back who will score goals, then you can add to that NUFC’s very public strategy of looking for younger players who will increase in value and will fit a rigid pay structure.

Obviously Carvalho fits the bill perfectly being a sub-six foot, one goal a season, 34 year old, who will expect Real Madrid wages.
