Yes we all know friendlies are getting fit exercises…results don’t matter blah blah blah…but!!

Great to see though that Hartlepool’s recent signing Steve Howard is getting such a kick out of scoring the winner against the mackems and that Titus is keeping his standards up.

A black & white through and through, Steve started his career at ‘Pools’ and has scored over two hundred goals in his career, though few would have been sweeter than the one last night.

The Hartlepool Mail caught up with the Newcastle fan after the match;

“It’s nice to score in any game – but against them is even better, I just wish it was in the Premier League.
Everyone knows I’m a massive Newcastle fan and that was the first time I’ve scored against them, so I’d be lying if I said it didn’t feel good.
I had quite a few messages and calls waiting for me afterwards from my mates as well, so I wasn’t the only one who enjoyed it.
I knew Titus had missed the flight of the ball and I thought, I’ve got a chance here.
I managed to bustle him off it and I was in. I was waiting for it to come down and just thought ‘keep it low.
I did that and it’s went straight through his legs”.

Well done Steve, hope your wish comes true one day!
