Michael Owen – Desert(ing) Again?
Stoke were apparently prepared to take him but only on a pay as you play basis, which would have probably amounted to round about enough to feed one of his horses.
At a stage in his career when he should have been an automatic choice for his country as the wise older head leading by example and guiding the likes of Carroll & Welbeck, instead he is scraping around for a club that will have him and watching England on the telly with the rest of us!
Anyway, Dubai’s Al-Shabab looks like a potential destination and according to Saeed Al Marri, the team’s Executive Director;
“Owen has been offered to Shabab and some other clubs in the UAE and we sat to discuss a lot of things.
He is an option for us, but this deal will go through in two or three stages. We have to see what he can do for us and whether he can help us and then evaluate how much he will cost us and whether he is worth the money”.
No disrespect to anyone or any club but when Alan Shearer was 32 he was leading Newcastle United into the Champions League and knocking goals in away at the likes of Inter Milan, not looking to sign somewhere that clearly Owen will have no interest in going to, apart from to pick up wedges of cash and watch the camel racing.
