Claims Newcastle Have Bid For £10m Striker
There are claims from France that Newcastle United have bid around £10m for Loic Remy of Marseille.
The powerful 25 year old striker has scored 37 goals in 83 appearances for the French club, including 27 in 60 league matches.
The forward who stands at over 6 ft tall, has also scored 4 goals in 17 appearances for the French national team.
French media organisation Le 10 Sport have claimed Newcastle have bid around 12m Euros (around £10m) but that Marseille are holding out for the full 18m Euros which would trigger a release clause. A release clause that has come down from a 25m Euro one that was in place in January.
There is also mention of long standing interest from the likes of Tottenham and Lille.
With Newcastle’s recent transfer history in the French league I suppose it is easy for our name to be added by agents and clubs to bump up interest elsewhere, though of course on the other side of the coin because of Newcastle regularly dipping into the French market it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise to see United sign a French striker…
Remy joins an ever growing list of strikers Newcastle have been linked with this Summer and while we still have Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse on our books, it seems hard to imagine United buying a striker for that kind of amount to be third choice.
Only forty days and forty nights of transfer speculation to live through until we can sleep easy again…until January!
