Alan Pardew – New Signings On Way
Speaking to the Sunday Sun the manager said;
“I think the situation is that by the end of the week – by next Sunday – I think we will have another player in. I’m hoping we will have two players in.
And I don’t want to see anybody go out and I don’t think I will. That’s my genuine feeling.”
The one would appear to be almost certainly Mathieu Debuchy and maybe we’ll never find out exactly how far Newcastle have been prepared to bend to land a player who would look to be a massive asset if we landed him.
With Newcastle’s elevated status after last season, it was maybe never going to be as easy to sneak under the radar as they did previously with both Cabaye and Debuchy. You can’t blame other clubs when they try and bump the price up by encouraging rival interest when Newcastle come knocking at the door for one of their star players.
Vernon Anita is rumoured to be possibly the second most likely to land next week and the versatile Ajax player looks to tick a lot of boxes as he can play both in midfield and at left back, plus he most definitely fits in with the passing style Alan Pardew sees as vital to take Newcastle forward.
There clearly is also real interest in Douglas and Carroll, the Brazilian (soon to be Dutch) centre-back couldn’t arrive until late August anyway when his Dutch citizenship is confirmed, while the Carroll saga has a canny few more twists to come before any conclusion.
Speaking to the club’s TV channel, the manager made the point that, “We’ve got three games in the first week and I’m going to be using most of the squad”.
Bringing young players through the club is an absolute no-brainer but so is the fact that Newcastle are desperate for extra ready made first team players to make sure the club builds on that fifth place finish.
