Alan Pardew Identifies Perfect Signing
Quoted in The Sun, our manager had this to say;
“It seems like there is an imminence to him (Junior Hoilett) moving, wherever he ends up, we are keeping a close eye on that because he is a good player”.
As last season was drawing to a close it looked a knocking bet that Hoilett was on the way back to Germany with both Bayern Munich and Borussia Monchengladbach allegedly lining him up, the player having spent time at both Paderborn and St.Pauli as a youngster.
However, it is still up in the air as to his next club and Pardew’s comments would appear to confirm recent reports linking the Canadian-born winger with Newcastle.
Easily the best player in a shocking Blackburn team, Junior Hoilett ticks a lot of boxes.
TICK A winger who scores goals (12 in 81 Blackburn appearances, including 7 in 34 last season)
TICK Age (Only 22, so room for improvement and resale value…)
TICK Quick (Very)
TICK Versatility (Can play up front as well as on the wing)
TICK Price Tag (No transfer fee but development compensation of around £4m to be paid)
The other clubs also being linked are QPR and Everton and you’d hope in our current position an ambitious player would see St.James’ Park as a more favourable destination.
If Newcastle follow up their interest then I believe he’d be a great signing, bringing extra pace and directness which would perfectly complement what the likes of Jonas and Ben Arfa offer.
If the player chose QPR above Newcastle then you’d know he was never the right player for us in the first place because he’d clearly be putting money before ambition, if he chose to join the circus now operating at Loftus Road.
