Tuesday Is D Day For Ben Arfa and Cabaye

Tuesday could prove informative as to where Newcastle’s French contingent will figure in Laurent Blanc’s Euro plans.

France play their final warm-up match against Estonia and it is likely that Blanc will use the occasion to play his first choice eleven in preparation for the showdown with In-Ger-Land on the 11th June.

Cabaye is almost certainly a starter but as always, all eyes will be on Hatem Ben Arfa and fingers crossed we’ll get a chance to see him light up our TV screens this summer.

Our other Euro representative, Tim Krul, sat out the Netherlands’ six goal stroll against Northern Ireland, with Shane Ferguson a starter for his country. Hard to say whether Krul would have got more of a sweat on if he’d played, given the ease with which they controlled the match.

Elsewhere on the international front, Papiss Cisse again captained Senegal, against Liberia this time. The prolific striker….missed a penalty but eventually led his country to a 3-1 win, so a kind of happy 27th birthday present today (Sunday) for Cisse. No place in the line-up for Demba Ba though.

Cheick Tiote was also in action, the Ivory Coast beat Tanzania 2-0.
