Yohan Cabaye is “Indispensable” For Newcastle AND France

Speaking ahead of tonight’s clash between France and Spain, manager Laurent Blanc has talked about how ‘indispensable’ Yohan Cabaye is to his plans.

Having been rested as a precaution for the Sweden defeat, Blanc will be relieved that he can welcome Cabaye back into his team to add a bit of calm to a squad who are threatening to repeat the fiasco of the last World Cup, with Hatem Ben Arfa in the middle of it.

Laurent Blanc said: “Cabaye is indispensable in terms of how he played in the first two games in the competition, absolutely.

We know players like Cabaye bring a lot to the team. You realise how much players like that bring when they are not actually there.

He has such great technical ability which really helps the side, gives us a bit more assurance, because we can keep the ball and move it about.

He has been an important player for a while now – both with his club and the national side”.

As an aside, with Laurent Blanc currently second favourite to be the next manager at Tottenham, if he did get the job it would seem inevitable that he would be casting his eye over the players he knows best…

Even if he didn’t go after French players currently with English clubs, I’m betting it would only increase the competition for when Newcastle United are casting their net in France.
