Newcastle Put In New Bid For Striker

The Dutch daily paper AD Sportwereld is reporting that Newcastle United have upped their bid for Luuk De Jong.

The original bid was claimed to be around £8m and now that has been raised to £12m in a take it or leave it offer according to the Dutch reports.

De Jong fits much of Newcastle’s current transfer strategy as he’s young (will be 22 in August), scores goals for fun (59 in 119 matches for Twente) and of course with his age and profile it is hard to see him not increasing in value in the future.

Last season he hit twenty five goals for FC Twente and their chairman is reported to be desperate to keep him for at least one more season.

However, there is a general acceptance in the Dutch league that eventually all star players will leave for the riches of the bigger leagues and if Newcastle hit the magic price they are after then there is little doubt they’ll take the money.
