Lille Reject Newcastle’s Bid But Cabaye Could Be Crucial Factor

This morning brought news that Lille had rejected Newcastle United’s bid for their right-back Mathieu Debuchy.

The bid is said to be around £4m and it would appear that there is little doubt the French club have made the bid public to flush out other interested parties.

Having being stung by Newcastle with the bargain price for Yohan Cabaye they are clearly not wanting to be caught again.

The first choice French right-back was clearly worth more than £4m before the tournament and his performances in the first two matches won’t have brought his valuation down as he’s impressed in both.

A Newcastle bid would fit in with my belief that Alan Pardew is looking to get their transfer business done early once again.

Even though Newcastle have had their bid rejected I don’t think Debuchy is a lost cause, if United are prepared to increase their bid to a realistic level then I fancy the Yohan Cabaye factor can help to bring his ex-team mate and friend over to join him in the black & white cause.
