Essential Dates For Newcastle Fans

Hold off booking that holiday, here we bring you the definitive list of Newcastle United dates for your summer diary.

Even the most miserable fan can’t complain too much about the gap between seasons this summer.

23rd May The public sale of tickets recommenced for the Olympic football matches (both men’s and women’s) to be played at St.James’ Park 26th July – 4th August), on some days the ticket price covers two matches.

8th June – 1st July Euros have kicked off.

15th/16th June A bit of a departure from the football but the Olympic flame will be passing through Newcastle & Gateshead including zip-wiring over the Tyne.

18th June Premier League fixtures for the 2012/13 season announced.

5th July  Newcastle United players return to begin pre-season training.

26th July  Olympic football matches kick-off at St.James’ Park starting with a double header (Men’s – 2 Matches): Mexico v South Korea (2.30pm) Gabon v Switzerland (5.15pm)

27th July Newcastle play Olympiakos in the first of their two matches in a three-sided tournament at the Algarve Stadium near Faro, kick-off 8.45pm (local time).

28th July Same venue as the night before but this time United face FC Porto with kick-off once again 8.45pm (local time).

29th July (Men’s – 2 Matches): Spain v Honduras (5pm) Japan v Morocco (7.45pm)

31st July (Women’s – 2 Matches): Canada v Sweden (2.30pm) France v Colombia (5.15pm)

1st August (Men’s – 1 Match): Brazil v New Zealand (2.30pm)

1st August Newcastle United Reserves play Gateshead (International Stadium) Kick-Off 7.30pm

3rd August (Women’s – 1 QF Match)

4th August  (Men’s – 1 QF Match)

10th August The draw is made for the Europa League fourth qualifying round which is the stage when Newcastle are due to start their European campaign.

11th August  Newcastle United play a friendly at Cardiff City kick-off 3pm.

18th August The 2012/13 Premier League season kicks off.

23rd August The first leg of the Europa League fourth qualifying round.

30th August The second leg of the Europa League fourth qualifying round.

20th September Assuming Newcastle successfully get through the fourth qualifying round they will play their first Europa League group match.
