Claims That Llambias In Holland Today For De Jong
Dutch newspaper Tubantia is claiming that Derek Llambias and secretary Lee Charnley are in Holland today, in an attempt to progress a bid for Luuk De Jong.
Their story suggests that Newcastle are increasing their bid from £8m to £10m.
Not sure what to add as this story is running and running, hopefully with real substance behind it.
What I do know is that De Jong does look a really good player and whether it would be to come in alongside Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba, or potentially be a replacement for Ba, he is most definitely the quality we need to help sustain a challenge near the top.
Unfortunately, a player like De Jong can hardly be said to have been ‘discovered’ by our scouting team and so countless other clubs will be having a good look at him.
Interesting a figure of £10m is mentioned which is roughly what was paid out for Papiss Cisse, whatever happens with the De Jong ‘transfer’ maybe that is the kind of figure which Mike Ashley will see as as the very upper limit on any incoming player.
