Cabaye, Ba, Colo, Cisse, Kath The Tea Lady….To Leave Newcastle United

As the old saying goes; the only thing worse than being talked about is…not being talked about!

There has already been plenty (far too much) talking about Newcastle ‘s players this season but maybe you just have to accept the situation, put your feet up and watch last season’s Newcastle United Season Review on DVD (only £10 including free UK postage from Amazon) – it isn’t only us who have been noticing how well some of our players have performed!

Maybe to keep the transfer window blood pressure levels safe we should follow the mackem model and sign a couple of dozen anonymous workmanline players, we could then sit back safe in the knowledge that none of our players would then be making headlines, apart from those jumping up and down on cars of course.

It is no surprise that when any media people get to talk to our elite players it is guaranteed they will be desperate for a transfer ‘story’.

The latest examples:

Papiss Cisse talking to Sky Sports;

“I am very happy in Newcastle and I want to stay there for many years.

We were close to a Champions League position so next season hopefully we will qualify for that and everyone will taste the Champions League, I am looking forward to next season.”

Cabaye speaking to France Football;

“There are rumours,I am following it a little. But I have four years remaining on my contract with Newcastle.

Today I don’t want to know anything. That is what agents are for.”

At Newcastle we will play in the Europa League. The atmosphere is already huge at St James Park with us in the Premier League and it seems stronger now we’re in Europe.

When I came to England, I had to start again from scratch. There, they hardly knew me.

Some players did not even know I was a French champion [with Lille]. So I questioned myself, getting to the heart of the matter as quickly as possible.

At Newcastle, I had to go and get it. The fight has been permanent. Security would have been remaining at Lille but at that moment I didn’t think about it. I went to Newcastle to have success”.

I doubt cricket featured very highly where Papiss and Yohan were growing up but I think they played those with a pretty straight bat, which encouragingly has been the case when any of our best players have been put in the situation.

The Demba Ba contract clause obviously is a bit different and needs sorting one way or another but I do feel confident that we don’t have players agitating for a move which to me is all you can ask for.
