Stoke Get Newcastle United Fans Vote

Last season, the brilliant result and performance at Stoke was the one that had Newcastle fans really believing.

Almost all of us started last season with average expectations at best but with each passing week you began to feel that maybe we were going to have a bit of fun over the course of the year.

In our latest poll we offered five options as to the match that was the tipping point to convince you that Newcastle were going to be anything but rubbish.

That Demba Ba hat-trick inspired win at Stoke was the overwhelming choice as 68% selected that complete performance by United, next best was the battling away point at Old Trafford with 18%, followed by the visits to sunderland (6%), Villa (6%) and Wolves (2%).

Personally, I thought the away point at Villa was the first time I thought we might be ok and I remember afterwards Alan Pardew saying it was the match when Yohan Cabaye first grabbed hold of the game and he and Tiote dominated the midfield.

I have to say though that Stoke was the one that really made me sit up and take notice, plus maybe a few fans who are thinking ‘so what’ if Demba Ba leaves, should cast their mind back as to just how devastating he was for us pre-African Nations before having to adapt his role.

Our magazine runs a readers poll at the end of each season and  we are giving you the chance to vote on a number of questions online that will help to give the definitive guide to how Newcastle United have fared over the last twelve months.

Your voice will be added to the thousands who take part via the magazine and the results will be published in the magazine Summer Special which is out on Saturday 2nd June.

Copies can be ordered in advance by visiting our online shop here, or to subscribe for ten issues of the best selling Newcastle United magazine which is published every month (apart from July) of the year click here.
