It is no more than the Argentinian defender deserves as not only has he been excellent when called into action on the pitch but he is also a great example as to how to conduct yourself as a professional footballer.
Tim Krul also gets an honourable mention while just missing out on Jeff’s first eleven, as does Colo’s countryman Jonas Gutierrez who gets a big thumbs up from SKY’s number one.
Even though our captain oozes class most of the time, it isn’t often that pundits will look beyond the same old clubs when selecting players for end of season award type things. Or if they do it is usually in a very superficial way such as if say they’d picked somebody like Papiss Cisse on the basis of less than half a season of matches.
As for next season, I have a feeling Papiss Cisse could very well be picking up more than anyone’s dream team award.
