A shocking run of eight defeats in a row at Stamford Bridge was halted by a very backs to the wall goalless draw in the relegation season. Last season that was built on with a deserved 2-2 draw which could easily have been an away win, while in the Carling Cup a much changed United (including Ranger, Lovenkrands, Vuckic, Ferguson, Smith and Campbell! ) won a thriller with the odd goal in seven.

So two draws and a win in our last three visits, surely we should be favourites…especially if we see a repeat of this classic winner from Shola!

A classic winner as Shola Ameobi rises like a salmon to knock Chelsea out of the League Cup, 22nd September 2010, on their own turf.

Even better, this is footage from a very unusual angle, from the terraces!

We bring you this classic video action courtesy of The Mag’s YouTube channel, we present Shola Ameobi…

Sorry to break it , but chelsea that day played a team full of teens and were also condemned to 10men after injuries..

    • themagonline

      Harry,
We take it all back, Chelsea did indeed put the following unknown teenagers on the pitch; Terry, Turnbull, Ramires, Benayoun, Anelka, Zhirkov, Kalou, Van Aanholt, Sturridge, Alex & Ferreira….there were actually only 3 ‘teens’ including the next Chelsea superstar Kakuta. You were also quite correct that Chelsea did indeed go down to ten men….but Newcastle were already 3-1 up when it happened.

Agreed , not teenagers but very second string dont you think ?….Prepare for a beating geordie¬†boys!

If I remember we had our second team out too that day so our 2nd team beat your 2nd team it seems. Think our 1st team will beat your 1st team tonight and you will lose in the CL final :)
