Alan Pardew – So Good They Named Him Twice
Our leader picked up the League Managers Association (LMA) Manager of the Year prize at their London awards night. The votes come from all of the managers across the four top divisions in England.
It gets even better because Alan Pardew picked up his third trophy of the season as predictably he also won Premier League Manager Of The Year, a no-brainer considering he was the winner of the top award.
Speaking to the club’s own website Alan Pardew said:
“It is an incredible honour to be named Manager of The Year by the League Managers Association.
Coming from my fellow managers, this really is as good as it gets and has to be the highlight of my managerial career so far.
This award is not just for me though. Everything we have achieved at Newcastle United this season has been achieved as a result of an incredible team effort. The board, my coaching staff, backroom team, players and our magnificent supporters – they all play a crucial role and I thank every one of them”.
Not surprisingly it is a rare event for the top manager award not to go to the boss of the Title winners and illustrates the exceptional job Pardew has done.
Rumour has it that the voting was unanimous with the exception of an excitable gentleman who was turned away at the door, wearing spectacles and dodgy tracksuit bottoms and speaking with an Irish accent, he was led away muttering, “unacceptable, totally unacceptable, that award should have been mine, we are the top dogs and I’ll be calling a press conference tomorrow to prove it!”.
