‘You Say Cabaye….I Say Hello’

Summer signing Yohan Cabaye has revealed that people said he was ‘mad’ to join Newcastle in the Summer.

After winning both Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France last season with Lille, many fans and local journalists questioned his decision to move to a side that finished 12th in the Premier League.

Speaking to the Evening Chronicle, Cabaye said: “I can’t be happier with my decision. Look where we are and what we can add to what we’ve already achieved so far.

“Now the same people who talked so negatively are saying that I made a good choice. But I always knew I was coming to a big club with fantastic supporters.”

Alan Pardew’s men travel to Wigan this weekend aiming for their seventh win in a row and a double over the Latics after Cabaye’s goal gave the Magpies all three points.

Cabaye’s 81st minute winner came during Newcastle’s unbeaten start to the season which ended at the Etihad against Manchester City. But the Toon have managed to keep up their impressive form which has put them well in the fight for a Champion’s League place.

When asked about the Champions League Cabaye said: “We’ll not talk too much about that just yet. We know that it is up to us to finish the season strongly.

“But there is no reason why we can’t. If we are still in this position when we play Manchester City and Everton, it’s really looking good for us”.
