On 19th May We Will All Be Germans
Chelsea secured their place in the final after knocking out champions Barcelona in dramatic fashion and were joined by Bayern after their penalty shoot-out victory over Real Madrid.
If the Blues were to win the Champions League and not finish in the top four of the Premier League then only the top three sides will be admitted into Europe’s elite competition.
“It would be a kick in the teeth for us,” Pardew said. “We don’t want Chelsea to win that Champions League final because we want that spot, along with Tottenham and Arsenal.
“Their fans probably feel the same. It would be very harsh if we finished fourth and then missed out on the Champions League.”
After such a superb season Newcastle find themselves in the fight for third and fourth place alongside Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea – but need to get through the challenges of Wigan, Chelsea, Manchester City and Everton.
Pardew continued: “We have some tough, tough games and sometimes that may be a better way to do it. If we do make it we have to beat some of the best teams.
“We are in good form and our players are relaxed and calm and we go to Wigan trying to win. There is no point in trying to draw.”
