There will always be transfer speculation at Newcastle United and with never ending speculation about Demba Ba’s alleged release clause, strikers are repeatedly being linked with NUFC.

I’m confident that Demba is going nowhere but I think it is essential that Newcastle bring in at least one extra striker as main support to Ba and Cisse.

In an ideal world you want to find a forward that will complement what we already have and bring something else to the party – step forward Bas Dost of Dutch side Heerenveen.

The 22 year old forward has been scoring goals for fun (38 in 60 matches for his club side) and though the Dutch league is a step down, have a look at this excellent goal action compilation.

Dost is 6ft 5 but still very mobile and on this evidence alone would cure our phobia of scoring from corners!

The confident way he strikes the ball reminds me very much of Alan Shearer, plus look at his clever movement in the box to lose his marker, that also brings to mind my all time favourite black & white number nine.

NUFC Will need to get at least one striker in as even if Demba stays there is another African Cup of Nations in January 2013 and we will lose them both for this.

This guy may be half decent in the Dutch league – there is no evidence of him being “the new Shearer” either in terms of his track record or this compilation. Think you need to have a look at where Shearer was aged 22 before writing such a crass headline.

he looks a little ordinary really, besides is cisse not our new shearer??

  • Al

Papiss has to be the new Andy Cole?

To be honest I don’t think this lad looks as good as he’s being made out. Most of these goals are tap ins and close range headers think there was only one from outside the box. Plus a few pens! He might get the time and space to put these in the net in the Dutch league but would he manage it in the prem? Let’s leave that up to mr Carr but I certainly wouldn’t compare him to shearer. Alan at that age was an explosion of pace and power not many tap ins he didnt even bother to round the keeper most times but just blast it past them. You never know though!
