Newcastle United Claim Top Four Spot Once Again
With full houses pretty much guaranteed for the two remaining home matches with Stoke and Manchester City, this season’s average will just miss out on the 50,000 mark.
In today’s times of economic misery, with the north east hardest hit of all, it is a tribute to the supporters that St.James’ Park is pretty much full every week.
I can’t believe that more isn’t made of how Manchester City’s super fans fail to fill their ground nearly every week, how many £25m/£30m do they need to sign before that happens!!
It is no surprise that the top six positions pretty much match the league elite, though the big difference for us is that for the first in a long time the Premier League position is doing justice to the fan placing.
Yes I know that what fans pay through the gate isn’t the be all and end all like it was pre-Premier League/SKY but our massive fan base (both inside St.James’ Park and those watching from afar) should equal extra commercial/financial muscle that means top six should be a permanent fixture for both number of fans AND points!
It is no coincidence Newcastle United have featured twenty times on the TV schedules this season, fan power!
