Newcastle Transfer Target Hits 14 minute Hat-Trick – Video
On Saturday we profiled a Dutch striker who Newcastle are reported to be interested in, going by the short and sweet name of Bas Dost (see below).
At the weekend he scored a fourteen minute hat-trick (His goals start at 2.15 on the video) to single-handedly win the match after his team Heerenveen had been two down.
Further reports from Holland say that Graham Carr has been watching the 22 year old striker who has now scored 24 goals in his last 13 matches!
There will always be transfer speculation at Newcastle United and with never ending speculation about Demba Ba’s alleged release clause, strikers are repeatedly being linked with NUFC.
I’m confident that Demba is going nowhere but I think it is essential that Newcastle bring in at least one extra striker as main support to Ba and Cisse.
In an ideal world you want to find a forward that will complement what we already have and bring something else to the party – step forward Bas Dost of Dutch side Heerenveen.
The 22 year old forward has been scoring goals for fun (38 in 60 matches for his club side) and though the Dutch league is a step down, have a look at this excellent goal action compilation.
Dost is 6ft 5 but still very mobile and on this evidence alone would cure our phobia of scoring from corners!
The confident way he strikes the ball reminds me very much of Alan Shearer, plus look at his clever movement in the box to lose his marker, that also brings to mind my all time favourite black & white number nine.
