Down below we have the Premier League table….as it would look if it had started on January 1st.

The first figure is the number of points and the numbers in brackets are how many matches each team has played.

On the one hand it is a bit of fun, especially seeing the likes of Villa and Liverpool in the relegation zone.

On another hand it shows how well Newcastle have done overall in terms of picking themselves up and rediscovering their early season form.

If you needed any confirmation that we are still in there fighting it out for (all!) the European placings then just look at the points gained this calendar year, more points than all of our cockney rivals – Arsenal (one less point) and Spurs & Chelsea with four less, plus Abramovich’s lot have played one game more.
